Bert Vandergugten is a Dutch born Canadian oil painter and  sculptor.  A major figure in the downtown Victoria Chinatown art scene of the eighties, Bert began his art career in Ottawa and currently resides in Metchosin B.C. A welder by trade, his work focuses on working class people and places, west coast landscapes and seascapes, and the personal internal world of a first generation Canadian artist living a diverse life in Canada.
